NFL Betting – How to Beat Winning and Losing Streaks

People who use sports betting sites usually get superstitious about winning and losing streaks. The price per head sports experts will tell you that you should always stick to your system when betting games and use streaks as a way of monitoring patterns. But too many bettors will operate under the notion that a team is due for win or due for a loss during a streak. Without taking the spread into account, the 2007 New England Patriots went 16-0 in the regular season. But against the spread, the Patriots were 10-6. That means that if you wanted to make money off the Patriots that season, you needed to stick to your system and avoid wondering when the Pats were due to lose.

The following season, the Detroit Lions were the first team to ever have a 0-16 season. But against the spread, the Lions were 7-9 on the season and 6-2 at home. If you had stuck to your system, you would have seen a pattern developing in the Lions’ season that had them winning home games against the spread. While everyone else was passing on betting the Lions, you could have taken up all of that action and made some serious money. It didn’t matter whether the Lions were due to win a game or not, it just mattered what they did against the spread.

If you stray from your betting system in football just because a team is on a streak, then you are setting yourself up for a bet online scam. A team is not due a win or a loss based on their record. You can see the patterns for yourself when you follow your system and use it to generate a betting profit.

NFL Super Bowl Betting – Do Your Research First

Thanks to the Internet, Super Bowl betting is now accessible to people all over the world. But if you want to make a profit on your Super Bowl pick, then you should spend a little time doing some research and making picks that will give you a chance to win. Even if you are a casual bettor, the worst thing that you can do when it is time to put money down on the biggest sporting event in the world is to bet with your emotions.

The pay per head sportsbook set the lines for the Super Bowl almost immediately after the championship games are done. But before you make that bet, you need to consider every factor. Remember that the odds were stacked against the New England Patriots when it won its first Super Bowl in 2001. No one expected the Patriots to beat the St. Louis Rams, but some very smart bettors did make the right pick and profited. In 2007, no one expected the New York Giants to stop the New England Patriots’ perfect season, but that is exactly what the Giants did.

There are several factors that go into deciding NFL scores in the Super Bowl. A good place to start looking at the stats is total number of yards allowed by each team and total number of yards gained. Then you can add in total number of points allowed and gained as well. Just those four stats will start to give you an idea of what you can expect in the Super Bowl. Start developing your own system and remember to bet with your system and not your heart when it is time to place that Super Bowl bet.

NFL Betting: Using Half and Quarter Bets to Your Advantage

The majority of sport betting enthusiasts will choose to bet the money line or point spreads on NFL games prior to the start of the game. But you can use half and quarter betting to take advantage of tendencies and trends that teams show throughout a game. You place the first half and first quarter bets prior to the beginning of the game, and then you can place the rest of the bets prior to the start of each half and quarter. If you are tracking game results, then this can be an easy way to make money.

For example, the price per head sports experts point out that Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning threw for a record 15 fourth quarter touchdowns in 2011. That means that you could place a bet just prior to the start of the fourth quarter of a Giants’ game that would have New York winning the fourth quarter over whomever it is playing. You can watch the flow of the game and determine if you think that Eli will put one or two more touchdowns up on the opposition in the fourth quarter and then make that bet just before the quarter starts.

This system can also be helpful when the NFL scores are lopsided going into the fourth quarter. If the winning team starts pulling its starters out of the game in the third quarter, then you can bet on the losing team to at least win the fourth quarter. The game may wind up a blowout, but you would still grab an easy win by betting the losing team’s starters against the winning team’s second string.

Stay Consistent with Your NFL Betting Method

People who bet on sports will spend years developing methods and ways to try and determine winners for the week. Your system may take the price per head bookmaking odds and plug them into a formula that uses the teams’ statistics. Once you have your system, you stick with it and keep generating a profit.

The thing about betting systems is that they are not always easy to stick with. You can sometimes get a feeling about a game and go against your system. That is the biggest mistake you could ever make. You spent years developing that system so you could win with it. You have to accept the fact that you will lose once in a while. But if you continue to win, then stay with your system.

It is inevitable that every NFL betting enthusiast will feel it is time to update the system. If you look at your bets for the week and feel good about the way that you arrived at those choices, then do not touch your system. But if you see changes that could make your system better, then you have lost faith in your method and it is time to upgrade it.

Remember that it is okay to lose a bet once in a while. No one is perfect and any team can beat any other team on any given day. You have to determine what you consider to be acceptable losses. If your loss ratio is just too high, then examine your system and find out what you can do to get back on the winning track.

NFL Week 16 Preview: The Mighty Will Fall

The biggest NFL question being thrown around the various betting sites is whether or not the Packers will go for a 16-0 record or if Green Bay will rest players. There is precedence to support both schools of thought. The Colts rested players the last couple of games of the 2009 season and wound up losing the Super Bowl to the Saints. The Patriots played for the 16-0 season in 2007, wound up being perfect and then lost the Super Bowl to the Giants.

According to the price per head bookie experts, the Packers claim that they have a plan to finish the season and it sounds like the Pack will be resting players the last two games of the season. Some people think that the Pack’s second string can win the last two games of the season. Others are not so sure.

Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers

By this point, the Packers would have secured home season throughout the NFC playoffs and would have no reason to subject quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the Chicago Bears’ defense. If the Packers follow the plan it has been discussing, the Rodgers will sit in this game and allow backup Matt Flynn to have a start. The Bears will desperately need this game and will have all hands on deck to attack a less than enthusiastic Green Bay team.

This is one instance where the NFL schedule works against the Packers because this is not going to be an easy game. This will be the game that prevents the Packers from going perfect this season.

Pick: Chicago Bears
